Tempur-Pedic Grand Mattress Initial Impression

My wife & I just bought this…

tempur-pedic grand mattress and pillows
What you are looking at is the Tempur-Pedic GrandBed and two Grand Pillows.  This is described by many mattress reviewers as the Rolls-Royce of mattresses, gotta love that!

Along with the mattress and pillows, we ordered a low profile grand foundation, mattress protector, and sheet set.  The order before tax & shipping would have put us back $8,025 based on retail pricing.

Termpur-Pedic shopping cart total

Being that I’m a tight wad, I would never shell out that much money for a mattress set no matter how good the reviews are.  The only reason we purchased this is because one of my closest homies is a sales rep for Tempur-Pedic and extended us one of the two annual friends/family/personal 75% discounts he is allotted per year.

The savings was too good to pass up, and given my history of spine surgeries (Four T5 Corpectomy’s since 1999) I felt it made sense to spend a little over $2800 (after tax & shipping) to potentially improve my posture and minimize my back pain a bit.  The Trader in me felt it was a good reward to risk ratio.  :)

After two nights of sleeping with this new set up, I can already feel a difference.  I am shifting very little in my sleep, approximately 3-4 times per night thus far versus 10-15 with my previous set up.  I feel more spry in the morning.  I still wake up sore, but I’ve already noticed an improvement in the level of soreness.  My wife loves it too, no complaints from her at this point.

I read it takes 2 months to get used to a Termpur-Pedic mattress, but I disagree.  My wife & I have experienced no trouble sleeping on it.  I’ll post an update in two months.

If you don’t think this is hilarious, there’s something wrong with you.

A good friend of mine out in Hollywood (Michael Reetz) recently called and asked me if he & his production group could use one of my songs in a video they were editing.  Mike is one of my close friends, so of course I said yes.

I called Smallz (the other half of Backroad) and asked for an instrumental of the Backroad track “Girl’s Name” off our first album “Take Notes.”  Smallz hooked it up with a quickness and I sent it over to Mike.

A few days later Mike hit me with this…

Mike is the guy in this video, and that song you hear playing once Mike wakes up at the girls place is Backroad! I’m the guy you hear rapping when the vocals cut in…gotta love it.

This video made it to the front page of funnyordie.com today, which is HUGE for Mike and his crew!!  I’m pumped for him, and also excited that a Backroad song is getting some serious exposure as we speak.

The definition of a win win!

I create music, and therefore am an artist in my own right. I love and respect the creation of art whether it be on a canvas, via vocal cords, etc. In this case I am referring to art via film.

A good friend of mine from college, Craig Miller, became a Film Director after studying Theater at the University of Kentucky. We do not speak often, but we manage to keep in touch a few times a year to talk about current projects and whatnot. Trust me when I say Craig is a very intelligent guy and has a true passion for film.

He has always shown interest in my music, and has purchased both of my albums. He even offered to direct a Backroad music video at cost for us, but unfortunately “at cost” is still an expensive endeavour. Regardless, It’s the thought that counts. :)

When Craig called to let me know that he had directed a movie and it was releasing on DVD, I immediately wanted to check it out. I inquired about details of the film, and he ended up sending me a copy to view.

The film is titled “Blink” and was shot in Lexington, KY. Craig made the film on an extremely modest budget. I watched with low expectations considering the budgetary constraints. I was blown away. Not only did the film look and feel professional, there was a great story behind it.

I respect the shit out of Craig for taking on this daunting task and achieving his goal. I urge you to support Craig by purchasing Blink at Amazon today (click the image below)! I did…and I did so not only to support Craig, but because I see huge potential and I want to see more from him.
